NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR
Local Partnership
Neighbor to Neighbor has been working to reverse the effects of poverty through mentoring relationships here in Raleigh for over 25 years! Their after-school program for those falling through the cracks has been proven to grow students 1.5 grade levels per year (3x the national average) and their Neighbor Enterprises, a collection of community-based businesses, are creating living wage employment opportunities in our city for those who need it most.
We have had the privilege to partner with this great organization since 2019. Current opportunities to support their work include volunteering as an after-school mentor or utilizing the cleaning, landscaping, or moving services of Neighbor enterprises.
ZOE EMPOWERS
Global Partnership
Our global partner, Zoe Empowers, provides opportunities for young people in child-led households impacted by extreme poverty to become self-sufficient. Our church supports a group of 91 kids in Rwanda under the local leadership of Empowerment Model Founder, Epiphanie Mujawimana. Through a three-year empowerment program, orphaned youth receive micro grants, life skills and vocational training as they seek to become secure, healthy and connected community members.
You can support our empowerment group through prayer and consider joining us on our next trip to Rwanda.
THE GREEN CHAIR PROJECT
The Green Chair Project supports people making a fresh start in stable housing who lack the resources to make their house a home. They furnish and equip the homes of individuals overcoming homelessness, crisis or disaster. We love how their process honors the taste and dignity of each family by including them in the furniture selection process. Green Chair also has a program, Sweeter Dreams, that works to provide cribs and beds to the estimated 6,000 kids in Wake County who lack an appropriate place to sleep.
The Green Chair Project is always accepting donations of furniture and home goods. You can also support them by shopping at their online furnishings store. Volunteers are needed to sort donations and designers can use their gifts to help curate furniture collections.
